Mike Begnaud: Consultant of Rail & Intermodal

Mike Begnaud

Mike Begnaud played a pivotal role in the negotiations to lease reefer boxcars to the state of Washington. This initiative, known as the “shipper produce pool,” was a significant project that successfully operated for seven years. During this period, it revolutionized the way produce was transported, ensuring that goods remained fresh and reached their destinations efficiently.

In addition to this, I was part of a dedicated build team that spearheaded the introduction of reefer intermodal production for Washington State apple growers, packers, and shippers. This initiative was particularly noteworthy because it not only improved the logistics for one of the state’s most important agricultural products but also fostered stronger relationships with key stakeholders in the industry. Kroger, one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States, emerged as our biggest customer, highlighting the project’s success and its impact on the market.

Moreover, I was integral to the team that managed the modification and lining of rail tank cars to handle hazardous waste for DuPont. This project was critical in ensuring the safe and compliant transportation of hazardous materials, showcasing our commitment to environmental safety and regulatory adherence. Our expertise in handling hazardous materials extended to working with major companies such as Sun Oil, General Motors (GM), and Laidlaw Environmental. We managed both hazardous liquids and solids for these industry giants, demonstrating our capability and reliability in dealing with complex and potentially dangerous logistics challenges.

Throughout my career, these projects have underscored my ability to navigate intricate negotiations, oversee large-scale logistical operations, and implement innovative solutions that meet the needs of diverse clients and industries. My experiences reflect a deep understanding of the transportation and logistics sector, with a proven track record of delivering results and fostering long-term partnerships.
